They minimize the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Surgery may be the answer in more severe cases or with medical conditions. Surgery is sometimes necessary to help strengthen the lower esophageal sphincter to prevent acid reflux.

Several natural remedies can help soothe and heal throat damage caused by acid reflux. Here are some that I’ve tried and found effective. One effective remedy is the slippery elm. You can find this herb in various forms, teas, powders, or supplements. Slippery elm contains mucilage, a substance that coats and soothes the throat. Another natural remedy is aloe vera juice, which can help reduce inflammation and promote healing. Drinking chamomile tea or adding ginger to your diet can also help reduce inflammation and soothe the throat.

Regardless of the online information you read, seeking medical attention is essential if you experience frequent or severe acid reflux and sore throat symptoms. It could indicate you have a more serious condition, such as GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) or Barrett’s esophagus. Your healthcare provider can perform tests and recommend appropriate treatment options to alleviate your symptoms and prevent further complications.
